Busy times ahead for news channels; the voting season is on. Star
News has a special series to demystify the vote-on-account Kya
Karenge Vittmantri on its agenda. A half hour programme will
air from 29 January to 6 February 2004 at 8:30 pm.
The government is seeking a vote-on-account in a special session
of Parliament on 3 February 2004. Union Finance Minister Jaswant
Singh will balance the budget requirements, says a company release.
The series aims to throw light on the impact that Jaswant's pre-poll
gift has on the economy and industries and ultimately the consumers.
According to the company release Kya Karenge Vittmantri
will attempt to answer how these sops will impact the fiscal health
of the government, what will happen after the elections and will
these sops be rolled back. The series will provide a perspective
that goes beyond reporting to explain the 'why' behind each measure
and decision taken in the vote-on-account.
The series will feature panel discussions with noted industrialists,
economists and political leaders. In addition to Star News' anchors,
the programme will be co-anchored by eminent economists and will
feature detailed analysis of the expected impact of the vote-on-account.
On 3 February, when the vote-on-account will be presented in the
parliament, Kya Karenge Vittmantri will air special capsules
every hour to analyse the impact of the various sops announced on
different sectors ranging from state finances, housing loans and
employment.
