CNN’s chat show Talk Asia will featuire 59-year-old Sarod Maestro Amjad Ali Khan. The show airs on 4 December at 9:30 am, 7 pm and at 10:30 pm on 5 December at 8:30 pm and on 6 December at 9 am.

He talks to host Lorraine Hahn about his father, who himself was a renowned Sarod player and the teacher of Khan. The maestro also recounts performing for the Dalai Lama as one of his career highlights and shares his passion for his craft and unique heritage.

He says, “I am trying to connect to the world through sound, through music. I want people to have peace especially in this time when everything is so destructive; people have become full of hatred and arrogance. And I feel that they should think about the future generation and I think they should listen to music, because music has connected the whole world. Basically, there are two types of music in the world. One is a pure sound and the other is based on language, story, text, lyrics. Language creates barriers, while music connects.”
