Star Movies' 'Opening Night' debuts with 'I, Robot'

Star Movies has a weekend treat for its viewers in store- an exclusive sneak preview of a Hollywood blockbuster I, Robot.

The channel will debut its new programming initiative Opening Night on Sunday 8 August at 8:30 pm. The channel is giving its viewers in Asia an exciting taste of what is to come in the theatres.

Highlighted by exclusive extended footage from an upcoming high-profile Hollywood launch, Opening Night gives an up-close and intimate view of the most anticipated films before their general release, informs a company release.

The first Opening Night takes an in-depth look at the hi-tech thriller spectacle I, Robot. A 20th Century Fox big budget production, the film stars Hollywood action icon Will Smith. The movie, since its release in the United States has gone on to gross more than $140 mn worldwide becoming the US' box office no.1. I-Robot, will release in India on the 13 August 2004.

Star Movies has already secured exclusive preview screenings of I, Robot for viewers in India and is also running a contest around it. The viewers have to watch Opening Night contest question, and answer it. The lucky winner can get free tickets to the first day show of the movie, says the release.

In I, Robot, Will Smith stars as a techno-phobic cop in 2035 - a time when robots do everything for humans. As a safety measure, these robots have been hardwired to not harm humans, until a crime occurs that may have been committed by one of the mechanized helpers. Detective Del Spooner (Smith) investigates and makes a discovery that could have chilling consequences for mankind.

Opening Night will feature cast and crew interviews along with behind-the-scene footage from I, Robot. Terence Yin one of the hottest young actors in Asia, will raise the curtain on Opening Night and guide viewers through the exciting half-hour special, adds the release.
