Movie channel HBO has announced a bonanza for viewers this month.
The channels premiere movies every Saturday Night at 9 pm include
the high-tech espionage war going on between cats and dogs, in the
fun filled family entertainer Cats & Dogs on 7 August.
Then on 14 August Jodie Foster is trapped with her daughter in the
tense and taut Panic Room when robbers invade her home.
For something different viewers can tune into the suspense thriller
The Truth About Charlie with Mark Wahlberg and Thandie Newton
on 28 August. This is director Jonathan Demme's remake of the classic
caper flick Charade.
HBO will also showcase a series of films under the programme band
The Master Directors Of Hollywood. These will air every Wednesday
at 9 pm. Director Ron Howard tackles the life of firefighters in
the thriller Backdraft. The infamous legend of the Hong Kong
film industry, John Woo delivers the actioner Van Damme's Hard
Target. Oscar winner Clint Eastwood directs and stars in Space
Cowboys. The channel will also air Terminator 2 which
no doubt will get decent viewership on its umpteenth screening.
Another programme band with a woman oriented theme airs every Monday
at 9 pm. This is HBO's Action Babes. Uma Thurman stars in
the movie version of the TV series The Avengers. Sharon Stone
meanwhile tries at her hand at a revisionist western in The Quick
And The Dead. Lucy Liu of Charlies Angels fame
stars in Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Sever. Actress, model, and singer
Brigitte Nielsen stars opposite Arnold Schwarzenneger in Red
Sonja. Finally Oscar winning actress Angelina Jolie sets the
screen ablaze in the blockbuster Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
