Ghazal king Jagjit Singh and his favourite
songs will share his views and thoughts with etc viewers in Chit
Chaat on 5 November at 7.30 pm. The show will be anchored by Indi
Pop artiste 'Ricky Martin Ka Chota Bhai' played by Suresh Menon.
Featured in Pop Ki Aandhi for the first half of November,
Singh will give humorous comparison of ghazals with rock music and
serious explanation of his own art in the show.
Pop Ki Aandhi is a special slot, which is dedicated to
the personalities from the music industry. In this slot, etc features
one musician or music group every fortnight.
Jagjit Singh has launched his latest album Close To My Heart,
which is a compilation of eight old melodies. Regarding the use
of old songs, he says, "I have also done remix. The only difference
is that I have taken old classic songs and I have chosen different
singers. These songs have been with me as I have grown." He
has taken the songs that were in mono and lacked body. To make them
more appealing, he has changed the music arrangement and added his
voice to them.
Although going by the trend he has cut a remix album, but Singh
refuses to adapt to the latest style of music video to attract attention.
"I sing from my heart. To give it the label of art I refuse
to break the song and its spirit," he tells Menon.
etc viewers can see this otherwise sombre artist adapting a tongue-in-cheek
attitude to entertain his fans, thus showing off his witty and humorous
side.
