| ETC Channel Punjabi will telecast "live"
pop singer and Punjabi folk artiste Gurdas Maan's mega concert that
will be held on 15 June 2003 at South City in Ludhiana. The mega concert
has been planned as the grand finale of the third anniversary celebrations
of ETC Channel Punjabi.
The concert is co- sponsored by Santro, McDonalds and Hindustan
Times. According to a press release, this is the second time ETC
Channel Punjabi is planning to telecast a concert LIVE for audiences
everywhere. It's first foray into LIVE event broadcasting was conducted
when the channel claimed to have achieved a record 100 per cent
channel share among Punjabi channels.
ETC Channel Punjabi president Rabindra Narayan was quoted as saying
in a press release “Gurdas Maan is a legend in Punjab. He is
the artiste who first got mass appeal for Punjabi music among mainstream
audiences. The popularity which Punjabi music enjoys today both
nationally and internationally is the result of the trailblazing
done by Gurdas Maan, in whose footsteps others have followed.”
ETC Channel Punjabi VP programming Rajiee M Shinde was quoted as
adding: “There possibly could not have been a better finale
to our third anniversary celebrations than a concert by the biggest
star of them all. The fact that it will be broadcast LIVE is the
icing on the anniversary cake.”
