The Prince of Kolkata Saurav Ganguly celebrates his birthday on
8 July. Star Sports has announced a series of specials to commemorate
the same. They will be showcased on the channels news programme
Sportsline.
30 June: Saurav the Footballer. Coming from the football
crazy state Ganguly initially harboured dreams of being a footballer
before shifting to cricket. The film looks at his brief stint playing
football. The film also interacts with Saurav’s classmates and his
sports teacher Jim Brown.
1 July: Saurav the Drummer. This shows how the Indian skipper
is passionate about traditional drums played during the festive
season in the city of joy. It also presents wife Dona, Uncle Debashish
Ganguly and celebrated percussionist Shivamani.
2 July: Saurav the Religious. This reflects his religious
bent of mind. Also interviewed are wife Dona, famous astrologer
Kusum Bhandari and friend Jaydeep Mukherjee.
3 July: Saurav the Man in Black. This highlights Ganguly's
penchant for the colour black when it comes to clothes. The show
gathers reaction from friends and renowned fashion designer Wendell
Rodrigues.
4 July: Saurav the Batsman This deals with the left hander's
fondness for bats. It also showcases Jatin Sarin, Saurav’s bat manufacturer.
Flutist Hari Prasad Chaurasia finds similarities between the two
wooden pieces used by the two of them.
7 July: Saurav the Leader. This section will shed light
on Saurav’s leadership qualities. Shailendra Singh of Percept D’
Marc and the software industry leader Infosys Chairman N.R.Narayana
Murthy also deal with the subject.
8 July: Saurav the Indian Skipper. The last film in the
birthday special series gives a general overview of Ganguly’s life
providing his fans an insight into India’s most successful captain.
Birthday wishes flow in from the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Parthiv
Patel, Sanjay Bangar, Zaheer Khan and coach John Wright.
