He has to his credit films like family drama The Wedding Banquet
to Oscar winning martial arts epic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
However, movie director Ang Lee tells CNN that his directing interests
go beyond these genres to visualised effects, with his latest movie,
The Hulk.
On CNN's Talk Asia Lee tells CNN’s Lorraine Hahn how his
directing experience with Crouching Tiger... inspired him
to produce The Hulk. He says, “I think what we try to do
here that has never been done before is to humanise a character
with computer generated images effect. A lot of continuity and subtlety
and real-life performance are very new to the animators. I’m the
best person to fill in that form. I think doing Crouching Tiger
helped me to know a lot of choreography and actions.”
The only Asian filmmaker to win Best Director at the Golden Globe
Awards, Lee reveals to CNN how his classic Chinese upbringing has
been the inspiration behind his movie making. The 48-year-old also
talks about his plans for the future, his family, and how he spent
a fruitless six-year struggle as a ‘house-husband’ before directing
his first movie.
The show airs on 30 June at 6 pm.
