This weekend, Star Movies will continue along the blockbuster theme
with diverse themes under its Great Weekends band. The action
kicks off on 27 June with the premiere of the Rob Schneider comedy
Duece Bigelow Male Gogolo. Schneider plays a down-on-his-luck
guy who barely makes a living by cleaning fish tanks. His pathetic
life takes a swinging change for the better when, while fish-sitting
for a debonair, world-class male escort, he mistakenly answers the
business phone.
Suddenly, he becomes Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, and finds himself
drawn into a bizarre world inhabited by pimps and X-large women.
There are hilarious references to The Matrix. In his new
career, Deuce finds the most surprising thing of all - love.
On 28 June at 6:30 pm Terminator 2 will air. Terminator
3 is due for a theatrical release shortly and the channel is
no doubt hoping to capitalise on the buzz. At 9 pm, Jack Nicholson
takes centre stage in Wolf. After being bitten by a wolf
a New York editor starts experiencing physical changes. For one
his sense of hearing becomes incredibly sharp. He decides to fight
claws intact in order to retain his job.
On 29 June, there will be the Steven Spielberg double bill special.
At 9 pm The Flintstones will air followed by Artificial
Intelligence at 11 pm. The latter started off as a collaboration
between Spielberg and the late Stanley Kubrick. The result is a
film that should have science fiction fans debating for years to
come. Haley Joel Osment plays a computer generated robotic boy who
is trained to experience human emotions. Not too long later his
adopted parents dump him and the film follows his adventures.
