Sony Entertainment Television (SET) has announced that on 11 July at 10:30 pm, the episode of Crime Patrol will see police raiding brothels.

An official release informs that the police raid takes viewers inside notorious brothels in an attempt to share with viewers how minor girls are rescued from living lives as prostitutes. Exposing the flesh trade, this episode draws attention to the social stigma, which is relentlessly destroying lives of innocent young girls, tricked into the horrifying drudgery of prostitution.

Statistics reveal that of the 2.3 million prostitutes in India, 0.1 million work in the 12,000 brothels of Mumbai. 20 per cent of them are girls below 18. Instead of discouraging prostitution, the fear of AIDS has only led to increased demand for younger, inexperienced girls with customers willing to pay a premium for them. The brothels oblige as trafficking in young girls is a good business proposition.

The show is anchored by model Diwakar Pundir.
