HBO has announced that irt will air the Adam Sandler comedy The Wedding Singer on 11 January at 9:30 pm.

The time period is 1985 and the songs as well as the manner of dressing are reminiscent of that period. Sandler plays Robbie Hart, an aspiring singer-song writer who pays the bills by playing at wedding banquets. After being abandoned at the altar by his sweetheart (Angela Featherstone), Robbie becomes extremely jaded to the sacred notion of love and commitment

A waitress Julia (Drew Barrymore) changes his mind. However Barrymore is engaged to Glenn, a two-timing stockbroker jerk who Robbie knows would only give Julia heartaches than happiness; she deserves better. Aided by his pal Sammy, Allen Covert-Check and Billy Idol, Robbie attempts to win back Julia’s heart. Look out for an uncredited appearance by Steve Buscemi as a drunk and Sandler’s hilarious rendition of Madonna’s Holiday.
