Asian action hero, Jet Li gives an interview to CNN’s Talk
Asia this Saturday. In the half-hour chat with show host Lorraine
Hahn, the martial arts star reveals he turned down starring roles
in Oscar winners Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The
Matrix. Li says he has no regrets and tells CNN that his latest
big budget epic Hero is “a very special movie and one of
the most important action films in my life.”
Li turned down Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon because of
a promise to his wife. “I am a traditional Chinese man. I remember
10 years ago I promised my wife, if we have fallen in love for 10
years then we will marry. If you have children, I will stop all
my work until the baby comes. So, I kept my promise about a year,
so I couldn't make the movie.”
He also says “I really want to make a movie, using violence to
stop violence. To talk about the peace, that’s my goal.”
The show airs on 25 January at 8 pm with repeats on 26 January at
5 pm and 27 January at 9 am and 7 pm.
