Andrew Leipus and Adrian Le Roux, caretakers of the Indian team’s
physical fitness, will feature on Harsha Online. The show
airs on 20 January at 10.30 pm on Star Sports.
It is not easy to persuade cricketers,to wear their soles out in
fitness training, but the team Leipus and Le Roux undertook the
arduous task willingly, and went on to earn compliments from the
team, which can now feel the changes, and the positive fallout.
The Indians owe a lot of credit to this duo for their recent successes.
The fitness experts themselves consider it a challenge to keep the
team in shape because it plays a lot without adequate rest.
Leipus was appointed the Indian team’s physiotherapist in October
1999 . This Australian is a qualified sports scientist and a physiotherapist
from the University of South Australia. Before joining the Indian
team, Leipus spent almost two years in South Africa with the likes
of Daryll Cullinan and Andrew Hall at the Centre of Sports Medicine,
Roesbank, Johannesburg.
South African Adrian Le Roux is responsible for the training of
the Indian team. Le Roux has worked with the Free State side in
South Africa for seven years. He had his first brush with the Indian
team after they lost the Bloemfontein test inside four days on their
last tour. On John Wright’s invitation, he had a session with the
Indians and that was the beginning of his association with the team.
