The preview show is Taking Guard while the review show is
Follow Through. ESS' commentary team comprising Sunil Gavaskar,
Geoffrey Boycott, Alan Wilkins, Ravi Shastri, Navjot Singh Sidhu
and Harsha Bhogle will host the shows from the special studios constructed
in South Africa.
The shows will also announce daily winners of the game show
Super Selector South Africa 2003. They will also take viewers
around scenic South Africa to showcase some out-of-the-world places,
out-of-the-way things to do while in South Africa, places where
one can get exotic food, foot-tapping music, clothes and much more.
The package also enables viewers to get a chance to meet the ultimate
fans of Indian cricket – Nana Patekar, Siva Mani and mascot Apple
Singh . Taking Guard will be aired an hour before the start
of the game and Follow Through will be showcased an hour
after the stumps are drawn for the day.
Speaking on the initiative, Director of Cricket and Indian Production,
ESPN Software India, Ray Hume said, “The Few Good Men commentary
team has strong brand equity among Indian viewers. They respect
the analysis provided by the ESPN Star Sports commentary team. We
are confident that viewers will prepare themselves for the world
cup matches on our channels by watching Taking Guard on our
channels and then come back to us to watch the post-game analysis
on Follow Through."
As reported earlier by indiantelevision.com, Super Selector
South Africa 2003 launched on 23 January. It allows players
to enjoy the game every day right through to 22 March and win cash
prizes daily. A total of 70 lakh rupees will be given away as cash
prizes in this special edition of the game. It will offer daily
cash prizes of more than rupees 10,000 every day and the mega prize
for the contest is Rs 20 lakh in cash and a trip to an international
cricket match telecast on ESS.
