Ten Sports will air the Poonawalla Breeders' Multimillion horse
race on 16 February at 3:30 pm with a repeat on 17 February at 3
pm.
The Poonawalla Breeders' Multimillion, a produce race three years
old and run over a distance of 1400 meters, is a weight for age
affair giving an equal chance to all juveniles. The seven-furlong
race, run on the lines of the Cartier Million (Ireland) and Magic
Million (Australia), will determine 'The Champion three year old'
in the country. The race invites participation from leading jockeys
from racing circuits in India and abroad.
The stake offered at the Poonalwalla Breeders' Multimillion is
probably the biggest in India at Rs 60 lakhs. The concept of the
race was taken from a revolutionary new idea that originated in
Australia which introduced a Million Race for juveniles and it became
so popular there that it soon spread all over the world. After a
few years of initial success, most of the newly introduced Millions
as they were called began to wane in interest, but the Poonawalla
Breeders Million has grown steadily each year.
Mumbai Horse Racing on the channel features commentators like Cyrus
Madan, one of the most respected figures in Indian horse racing,
with Anisha Sodhi, a former Show Jumping champion along with host
Keith Pereira.
