| The name Rajini Netru Indru Naalai probably would
not ring a bell. How about Rajnikanth? Yes, that's the actor with
the cult following - Rajnikanth, and Vijay TV is airing a showcase
on his life history.
Rajnikanth was born Shivaji Rao Gaekwad on 12 December 1949 in
Karnataka. He became a bus conductor when he reportedly caught the
fancy of the bus travellers with his mannerisms and style of issuing
tickets and blowing the whistle and so on. Looking to become an
actor, he moved to Madras and joined the film institute. It was
here that K Balachander, the Tamil director well known for introducing
talented, new faces in films cast his eyes on him. K Balachander
gave him a small role - as the no-good husband of Srividya - in
Aboorva Raagangal and the rest as they say is history.
The
show, which will run for one week from 8 to 12 December 2003 at
9:30 pm, is called Rajini Netru Indru Naalai (Yesterday Today
Tomorrow). Aptly titled, the show will trace Rajinikanth's life
from his birth till today. The show also will talk about his future
and will carry the wishes of his fans who made him, his colleagues
who supported him, his friends who shared with him the happy and
joyous moments of life and his family.
The aim of the show is to entertain and educate the audience about
a superstar who has always entertained them while also throwing
light on the hurdles that went behind the making of this living
legend.
The 8 December episode will dwell on the hero's early days. Interesting
facts about where the superstar was born, which school he attended,
who were his friends will be presented along with comments and messages
from his childhood friends.
On 9 December, the show will talk about his struggle to enter the
film industry. The episode will trace the footprints of the star
as he entered Chennai struggling to find a place for himself in
the Tamil film industry.
The 10 December show will feature some glimpses into his personal
life. For instance, how did he get married to Latha? The show will
also talk about Rajini's inclination to spirituality.
The 11 December show will present to the audience, how the star
turned into a superstar along with comments and messages from his
contemporaries and well wishers including those from Kalaignar M
Karunanidhi, former prime minister Devagowda, K Balachander, Amitabh
Bachchan, Kamal Hassan, Vairamuthu, P Chidambaram, Vivek, Vijay,
Vikram, Dhanush, Simbu et al.
The 12 December show is slated to be a one-hour show. The show will
talk about his political involvement. On his birthday, the show
will also carry wishes for him from his near and dear ones. Personalities
will speak about the future of this great star: Where does his future
lie, is it in Cinema or in Politics?
