It is the story of an insecure entrepreneur Gopal (Shah Rukh) who marries Radha (Madhuri Dixit), the very girl he doted on as a boy. But Radha is exceedingly fond of Suraj (Salman Khan), an orphan who has been raised by her mother and grows up to be a talented singer and superstar with a huge fan following.

Their strong friendship sows the seeds of doubt and suspicion in Gopal's mind and he begins to impute ignoble motives to every gesture that his wife makes. Soon Radha's life reaches a stage where she is torn between the love of her life and her childhood friend. Finally, she finds herself at the crossroads where she has to choose between her best friend and her husband.
