Star World has lined up the annual beauty event Miss World 2003 for live broadcast this weekend. The international beauty pageant will be aired live from the tropical Island of Hainan in China on Saturday, 6 December 2003 at 6:30 pm.

The event will be hosted by Irish TV presenter Amanda Byram and will have musical performances by international artists.

In the sub events so far, Miss Georgia Irina Onashvili has won the Miss World 2003 Talent Show and Miss Ireland Rosanna Davison has been named Miss World Beach Beauty 2003.

Star World had aired on Saturday night of 29 November 'Miss World You Decide', which was the precursor to the Miss World 2003 finals and where viewers could vote for contestants via telephone and interactive voting. These votes had been factored in towards the choice of semi-finalists and finalists.

The girls had been filmed in a variety of different locations around China as they participate in different sub-contests that tested their intelligence, their athletic skills, their ability to sing or dance, their fashion and style and their overall personality.

The contestants that emerged top 10 in the people's choice contest, in alphabetical order, were Albania, Australia, Brazil, India, Macedonia F.Y.R.O, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Thailand and Venezuela.
