| The Zee group owned Punjabi channels Alpha Punjabi
and ETC Channel Punjabi will carry re-runs of the musical event Satrangi
Freedom Fun that was shown live on Independence Day 2003.
Billed by the broadcasting group as the first ever mega musical
event conceived on the occasion of Independence Day, Satrangi Freedom
Fun was held at Mohali. The show will be telecast in two parts -
part one to be telecast on ETC Channel Punjabi on 31 August at 7:30
pm and part two to be telecast on Alpha TV Punjabi on 6 September
at 8:30 pm.
The star attractions for Satrangi Freedom Fun was Punjabi pop superstar
Harbhajan Mann who for the first time performed along with his brother
Gursewak Mann. The two brothers have recently launched an album
called Satrangi Peengh, which has proved to be a major chartbuster.
Giving the two stars company was an impressive line up of Punjabi
pop stars such as Pammi Bai, Amrinder Gill, Inderjit Nikku, Ranjit
Bath and Satwinder Bugga. The show also featured ace comedian Bhagwant
Mann and his partner Rana Ranbir.
An ETC press release says that Satrangi Freedom Fun had many firsts
to its credit. Not only was it the first ever 'live' event broadcast
on Independence Day but also the first time that two of the most
popular Punjabi channels were simultaneously beaming a show live
for viewers all over India and also in 112 different countries of
the world. Also for the first time, a huge dome was created at the
venue so that the monsoons did not interrupt with the show and the
15,000 people were not disappointed.
