Espn Star Sports (ESS) will telecast the US Open Championship live
to the Indian viewers starting next week. The tournament will get
underway at the hard courts of Flushing Meadow from 25 August to
7 September.
In the men's singles tournaments, competing players include Andre
Agassi, Andy Roddick, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Lleyton Hewitt and Wimbledon
champion Roger Federer.
Vying for the women's singles title would be Kim Clijsters, Justine
Henin-Hardenne, Venus Williams, Lindsay Davenport and Amelie Mauresmo.
Venus won the US Open in 2000 and 2001.
ESS will also get the Formula One championship live from Hungary
all of next week. The championship will see Michael Schumacher face
a serious challenge from his own brother Ralf, Juan Pablo Montoya,
Finn Kimi Räikkönen, and teammate Rubens Barrichello. All these
drivers have had a stand on the podium this season. The drivers'
points race has tightened up considerably in the past couple of
months as several other drivers have been taking the chequered flag
ahead of Schumacher.
The channel will telecast a special live screenings of the race
preview on Sunday at 4:30 pm. The Hungarian Grand Prix live will
end on 25 August.
