The founder of information technology company Infosys, Narayana
Murthy, will appear on CNN's chat show Talk Asia. The show
airs on 23 August at 7 pm with repeats on 24 August at 8 am, 25
August at the same time and on 26 August at 6 pm.
In the half hour interview with host Lorraine Hahn, Murthy talks
about his youth, his success in business leadership and his vision
for Infosys. Recipient of many business awards, he was most recently
named as Fortune's Businessmen of the Year together with
his chief executive, Nandan Nilenkani.
When asked about the Infosys Leadership Centre and his thoughts
on leadership, Murthy responds saying, "Leadership is all about
courage. Leadership is all about raising aspirations. Leadership
is all about convictions, about value system. Leadership is all
about meritocracy. I would say these are the fundamental principles
that we discuss and debate (at Infosys Leadership Centre). It's
mostly interactive and we use a lot of anecdotes from our own lives,
from our own experiences. And then people are quite welcome to challenge
those beliefs."
On his retirement plans, Murthy says, "I still have another
three years and a half or so, I hope I'll spend it in a productive
manner. Maybe I'll teach somewhere, either in a school, or some
management subject in business school. Ideally I would like to teach
mathematics, and physics, or perhaps computer science, to school
children."
