Etc has announced that it will showcase musician Devang Patel in the slot Pop Ki Aandhi for the first half of this month. Patel believes in handing out unrestricted and uncensored funny music to chase away boredom, the blues etc.

An official release informs that Pop Ki Aandhi is a special slot dedicated to the music personalities who are in news for their latest work. Each month etc features one such musician for each of the fortnights of a month. Besides exclusive shows with the artiste etc also features songs of their liking and from their forthcoming album.

Patel will talk about himself and his birth as a musician. He will also talk about his perception of laughter and how he conceives rib tickling music. This will give a fun-filled description of him as a person and a professional. His fans can catch him presenting himself 11 April at 8 pm with a repeat on 15 April at 6 pm.

Devang had first shaken the belief of music industry with his song Madhuri Dixit Milee Raste Mein where he had tickled the funny bone of listeners and viewers alike with his voice and lyrics. As to why had he not cut his own music video on himself like all the other Pop Singers, he says, “I did ask them to shoot the video on me and their answer was, Tum Par!!! ?” So he allowed this one time blunder but once he was ‘embedded’ in the music industry, Devang Patel went on to rock-n-roll on his own songs in his videos.

He explains why he breaks the popular songs into parodies and trends into spoofs saying, “ From the beginning my likes were opposite to others. So in music also instead of the regular emotions, lost love, trees, flowers and passion I talk about the things which are of no interest to others. That’s why I land up using words like Baniyaan, Ganjee, Pichadee, Chappal or Joota.

As per TAM figures etc had a channel share of 32 per cent and 31 per cent during the weeks ending 8 and 15 March. Its closest rival MTV had a share of 22 and 25 per cent respectively. During both the weeks 14 out of 25 top programmes amongst all the music channels were from etc's stable.
