DD Metro will air French film Saint-Exupery The Last Mission
at 11 pm tonight.
Directed by Robert Enrico it stars Bernard Giraudeau, Maria de Medeiros.
On a bright summer's morning of 1944, Major Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
prepares to leave on a reconnaissance flight mission over occupied
France. His plane, a lightning P 38, takes off from liberated Corsica
to photograph German positions in the Annecy region. At 3.30 pm,
with no hope now remaining, the French pilot is reported missing
by an American officer. During the final flight, past episodes of
his life come flooding back to him :The great Aeropostale period,
Mermoz and his comrades, the writing of "Night flight" and the "Little
Prince" and the women in his life. The television film recounts
the story and destiny of one of the most illustratious French writers
of this century.
On
4 October, Nini takes centrestage on the channel. In 1969,
in the village of Ferté-Sur-Cosson, young boys are not interested
in "cross-eyed" Nini. Her great grand-mother is the only one who
feeds her with hope for a promising future. One day, Nini goes off
to Paris to have her eyes operated on. She comes back to her home
town completely transformed; but above all, according to the press,
engaged to a well known singer. In actual fact, all she did was
pass him in the hospital corridor. The village lives off Nini's
lies, involuntary in the beginning, but soon changing her to become
a real pathological liar : She announces her wedding with the so
called singer. The saga now starts. Between hoaxes, ambitions and
gossip, disappointment and resentment rankles deep down inside…
On
11 October, viewers can take a Lovers Leap in the company
of Jean-Claude Islert, Véronique Genest, Pierre Arditi. The story
centers around unemployed but big hearted Lucille who comes to Paris
to start a new life. However, bad luck continues to follow her until
the day she dives off a bridge to save a suicide attempt by Pierre.
Pierre is a handsome tycoon and he's just been jilted by the top
model he is in love with.
