Jon Stewart, host of the award winning
US satirical news show The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, will
present The Daily Show: Global Edition, a late-night international
weekend edition of his program, premiering on CNN International, 21
September, 2002.
The Daily Show: Global Edition brings Stewart's smart wit,
satire and commentary on American current affairs to CNN International's
late night audiences in 161 million households around the world, an
official release says. The special Global Edition will be taken from
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, which is recorded weekly before
a live studio audience in New York for the US cable network Comedy
Central. The half-hour program will be anchored by Stewart on a mock
news set, with other 'Daily Show' correspondents providing reports
and comedy sketches throughout the program and will also include Stewart's
unique high profile celebrity interviews from the world of television,
film, media and politics.
The Daily Show: Global Edition, will complement CNN International's
weekend line-up of feature programs including The Music Room, Design
360, Inside Sailing, Talk Asia, Inside Asia and People in the News.
The show will air on Saturdays at 9:00 pm with a repeat on Sunday
at the same time.
