When Seconds Count: How To Survive A Disaster , the new prime-time reality special on Star World takes a look at life-threatening situations and the steps people take to survive them. The one-hour special includes footage of actual events and heart-pounding interviews with survivors who provide tips that may ultimately save lives.

Viewers can look out for never seen before segments of the five-alarm fire in Newton, Massachusetts, which trapped dozens of people with its deadly smoke and flames; a crash landing of a DC-10 in Sioux City, Iowa, caught on tape; a violent series of twisting tornados in Kansas (with winds of over 318 miles per hour) and lots more.

The show hosted by Hector Elizondo of Chicago Hope and Pretty Woman fame will air on 24 October at 7:30 pm , with a repeat at 11 pm.
