Diana Edulji, the doyen of women’s cricket and the world record
holder Mithali Raj will feature on Harsha Online next week.
In this theme based episode, Diana and Mithali will discuss issues
concerning women’s cricket in India. The episode will be telecast
on Monday at 10.30 pm on Star Sports.
Edulji’s name has almost become synonymous with women’s cricket
in India. In a memorable career spanning 14 years, she has rendered
yeoman service to women’s cricket in India, emerging as one of the
most successful bowlers India has produced. Her services to women’s
cricket were honoured with a Padma Shree Award. Today, Diana plays
her role as sports officer with Western Railways.
Last August, Mithali recorded the highest score in the history
of women’s test cricket. She scored 214 runs against England in
the second and final test at Taunton surpassing the previous world
record of 209 not out set by Australia’s Karen Rolton, also against
England, at Leeds last year. Mithali also adds variety to the Indian
attack by rolling her arm over to bowl leg-spinners.
