ESPN Star Sports has lined up a treat for tennis buffs. The channels
interactive one-hour programme presented by Harsha Bhogle will showcase
Mahesh Bhupathi.
The first Indian to win a Grand Slam title ever, Mahesh Bhupathi,
joins Harsha Bhogle for another episode of the unique programme,
on 18 November at 10.30 pm on Star Sports.
Mahesh hit the limelight with Leander Paes when their party began
at the 1997 ATP Gold Flake Open tennis tournament at Chennai, which
was their first major doubles victory. They made it a hat trick
of triumphs by winning the Gold Flake open titles during 1998 and
1999. ‘Lee – hesh’, as the pair was known, was an excellent combination.
In 1999 they reached the finals of all Grand Slam doubles tournaments
winning Wimbledon and The French Open and thus created history.Mahesh’s
father CKG Bhupathi – a former Indian tennis player with Junior
No.1 ranking, set up India’s first tennis academy ‘Tennis Clinic’
in Chennai in the late ‘70s. .
