In an interview with CNN’s Biz Asia this evening at 5 pm,
Sony’s chairman and CEO Nobuyuki Idei says that every sector needed
to take the issue of piracy more seriously, especially with regard
to doing business in China. The show repeats at 6:30 pm.
As manufacturers of both software and hardware, Sony is one of
the global companies most exposed to intellectual property and copyright
piracy. Idei tells CNN that although a solution won’t be found overnight,
every sector needs to confront the issue.
In the interview, airing as part of Biz Asia’s weekly series Challenging
CEOs, Sony’s CEO also discusses how the integration of services
is the way forward for his company and that the future for PlayStation
III is dependent on attracting talented game producers rather than
just hardware manufacturers. “The nature of the game business is
a content business,” Idei told CNN.
