The
longest running automotive show in India, Wheels
has begun its eighth series on BBC World.
The show, created by Miditech Productions, test drives the
latest cars to hit the Indian roads, showcases Indian motorbikes,
simplifies jargon, and One of the interesting aspects of
the show is the cars which are test driven against exotic
backdrops. While the earlier series of Wheels has
already seen the Palio 1.6 put through the paces at Mahabaleshwar,
the Maruti Versa gliding past history and myth in Jaipur
and the Skoda 1.9 raring to go on the Bombay Pune expressway,
the new season will feature the Mitsubishi Pajero and the
new Mercedes SLK.
The infotainment section in Series 8 takes a good look at
what car enthusiasts want to know about their wheels, examining
the impact of different types of braking mechanisms, rundowns
on your car servicing needs and even information on how
to convert your 1000 cc car into a race machine.
There are also 'tailpiece' stories, human interest reports
about people and their beloved wheels.
Winner of the Asian Television Award for best programme
in magazine format., Wheels is telecast on BBC World
at 10 pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays and at noon on Sundays.
