The National Geographic Channel on Sunday at 9 pm will be showing a documentary about an Afghan girl whose face has intrigued people ever since her picture appeared in the magazine in 1985.

Steve McCurry was the photographer who took the picture in 1984. In January 2002 he, along with an NGC team, returned to the Nasir Bagh refugee camp in Pakistan searching for the girl.

Sharbat Gula is married and lives in Afghanistan. The documentary will cover the process of finding her. Her story will appear in the cover of next months issue of the magazine.
