While
entertainment channels find it difficult to look beyond
"saas-bahu" conflicts, national broadcaster Doordarshan
soldiers on covering social responsibility issues.
Launching
25 March on DD1 is a new series Bulandi. The series,
produced by the National Literacy Mission and directed by
Satyan Kappu, will be telecast on Mondays & Thursdays at
3 pm.
The story revolves around Mushtaq Rizvi, a carpet weaver
who has come up the hard way and by sheer dint of hard work
manages to get his own import export business going. The
contrast is brought out of the protagonist's father, though
extremely skilled, is exploited and barely makes ends meet
because he is illiterate.
