New serial brings humour back to DD

(Posted on 1 June 2002 5 :20 pm)

DD Metro is boning up its programming with a new comedy serial scheduled to commence 5 June.

Not to be mistaken with the Monica Lall anchored show that aired on Doordarshan in the 1990s, the new Aisa Bhi Hotal Hai dwells on a retired person's trials and travails in a lighter vein. The weekly show to be telecast at 7:30 pm, is produced by Rakesh Chaudhary and directed by Purshottam Berde.

The cast boasts well known talent from the Marathi stage and film world, including Dilip Prabhavalkar, who portrays the lead role of Mr Sinha, Shubha Khote and Prashant Damle. Television actors Ajit Vacchani and Tanaaz Currim complete Sinha's family on screen.

The serial revolves around Sinha's life, his wife Bharati (Shobha Khote), son Vikram (Prashant Damle), daughter-in-law Shyamal (Tannaz Currim) and his two daughters. Both Vikram and Shyamal are employed with the same fashion designer where Vikram falls in love with Shyamal.

Written by Ashok Patole, the sitcom will air every Wednesday at 7:30 pm from 5 June.
