'AXN World Record Holder Contest' culminates next weekend

Action channel AXN has announced that a winner for its AXN World Record Holder contest in association with HP Deskjet will be found in Mumbai on 13 July.

An official release says the nationwide search for participants in the Be an AXN World Record Holder contest kicked off on 13 May. The channel claims to have received over 6,000 entries over the course of seven weeks, which were evaluated on the parameters of feasibility, safety and execution. The finalists looking to break their chosen records will take centrestage at south Mumbai's Grant Medical College Grounds.

The release states that the four contestants will include current Guinness World Record holder - Bibhuti Nayak. He currently holds a record of having done 819 back-hand push ups in one hour and will now attempt to complete 117 palm push-ups in one minute, hoping to break the existing record of 116 palm push-ups in one minute.


The contest is being held to enhance the brand of the series, Guinness World Records: Primetime, which broadcasts on the channel every Wednesday at 9 pm, with repeats every Thursday at 5 pm and on Sunday at 11am and 8 pm.

The channel has also announced a parallel AXN Viewing Marathon contest from 10-12 July. 20 fans of the channel will attempt watching the Ripley's Believe It or Not! series for a continuous time period of 48 hours. The aim is to break the current record of 46 hours, 30 minutes and 51 seconds for NYPD Blue, which was set by an American last September. As per the rules, participants can only take a 15-minute break every eight hours.
