As
with English movie channels that are vying for audience
attention on weekends, AXN is also coming out with its own
selection of action thrillers to lure the viewer on Saturdays
and Sundays.
Dubbed the Saturday Weekend Blast and the Sunday
Action Heroes Special, AXN begins the monsoon line up
with The Seventh Sign starring Demi Moore on 6 July
at 9 pm. A gripping story of a young pregnant woman who
starts hallucinating violent metaphysical experiences realizing
that a stranger living in her house is carrying out mystical
prophecies of Judgement Day and that she has been chosen
as the instrument of the seventh sign that will end all
mankind.
The Fourth Floor starring Juliette Lewis and William
Hurt, will feature on 13 July at the same time - a movie
about an independent young woman who gets caught in a bizarre
twist of events when she moves to a new apartment inherited
from her aunt. Horrifying and chilling incidents make her
realise that her new neighbours are the ones responsible
for her aunt's death and are gunning for her life.
The Rendering on 20 July at 9 pm stars Shannon Doherty,
Peter Outerbridge, and John Brennen and has Shannon Doherty
as Sarah Reynolds who has the gift of drawing; a gift that
she uses to put a deranged stalker behind bars. And years
later when this very same man controls the fate of her jailed
husband she has no choice but to help get this man free.
She even indulges his fantasies of having a relationship
with her.
The Saturday weekend blast ends with The Next Karate
Kid on 27 July, a touching story about an enigmatic
karate teacher Miyagi who helps a bitter and confused young
girl recognise and realise the goodness within her. Stars
Pat Morita, Hilary Swank, Chris Conrad, and Michael Ironside.
Hardcore action follows on the channel on Sundays with the
all time hit Die Hard starring Bruce Willis on 7
July. Deep Impact on 14 July at 9 pm is about a 14
year-old who discovers a monster comet on a collision course
with Earth. Twister on 21 July, starring Helen Hunt
and Bill Paxton, is one of Mother Nature's most destructive
forces, but men will lay their lives on the line to follow
its destructive path across the country.
28 July sees Oscar nominated actor William Dafoe in the
The Shadow of the Vampire, a bone-chilling story
of a film director with an obsession to shoot the perfect
vampire film and how his obsession leads him to enlist the
help of a real life vampire.
