Taz,
the lead singer of group Stereo Nation takes centrestage
on etc next week.
The channel that claims to be India’s most preferred music
channel will feature Taz talking about himself and his music
on etc on 6 February at 8 pm with a repeat on 9 February
at 8.00 pm.
Over the last two decades, the United Kingdom has produced
a number of musicians of Indian origin, who have created
a new trend of music by mixing Indian melody and western
sound with the help of state-of-the-art recording technology.
Stereo Nation is one of the finest exponents of this genre
of music.
Stereo Nation is different from the crowd in that they have
been very effective in combining bhangra with reggae. Tarsem
Singh, alias Taz, is the father of this unique technique.
Stereo nation became a household name in India in the 1990s
but Taz got his first break in 1989 with an album called
Hit The Deck. Don’t break my heart from the
album 'I’ll Be Waiting' saw the group hit the big time.
Taz has done playback in the film Tum Bin. Taz's latest
album Taz Mania is in his words “a collection melodious
and rhythmic songs.” Ask him about his biggest nightmare
and he answers, “To lose my voice because I don’t know anything
but music.”
