Talking Movies, a film and review magazine show aired on
BBC World, will begin its new year with episode featuring the directorial
efforts of Hollywood actors.
Acclaimed actors like Denzel Washington, Nicholas Cage, George
Clooney and Spike Lee are going behind the scenes to direct their
own films. Tom Brook and Laura Metzger will talk to the actors about
their directorial efforts in episodes to be telecast from 1 January
2003 to 5 January 2003.
Both Denzel Washington and George Clooney have chosen true life
stories for their directorial efforts. Washington has chosen to
direct Antwone Fisher, a film about a young Navy recruit's
struggle to overcome his violent past, while Clooney is directing
Charlie Kaufman's Adaptation as Confession of Dangerous
Mind, a chronicle of the strange life of American TV host and
self-purported CIA assassin Chuck Barris. Nicholas cage is directing
a low budget drama Sonny- a story about a male prostitute
wanting to break out and Spike Lee's latest take on directing will
be a movie about drug dealer taking a toll of his wasted life before
going to prison called 25th Hour.
The programme will be aired on Thursday at 11.00 pm Friday at 2.00
and 7.00 pm Saturday 11.00 am and Sunday at 3.00 am on BBC World,
a 24-hour international news and information channel.
