HBO has announced that it will air its original movie Introducing Dorothy Dandridge on 6 January at 9.30 pm. Halle Berry who plays the title role won an Emmy for her role in the movie.

Dandridge was the first black actress to receive a best actress Oscar nomination in 1954 for the film Carmen Jones. The film depicts racisim that afflicted Hollywood in the 1940's and 1950's. Dandridge was not allowed to use the white bathrooms or swim in a Las Vegas pool.
