Doordarshan will provide the live telecast of the results of the
Gujarat state assembly elections on 15 December. Viewers can watch
the telecast from 8.30 am to 2.00 pm and then from 7.15 pm to 08.00
pm on the national network DD-1.
A press release states that the unique selling proposition of the
Doordarshan News Election programme would be the speed, the
accuracy along with a fair and balanced analysis. The programme
will consist of live inputs and hotswitching from the BJP and Congress
offices in Ahmedabad. It will also include the spot reports from
several places in Gujarat, according to a statement from Prasar
Bharati.
Navin Surapnaini (Centre for Media Studies) will be the psephologist
in the programme. Neelam Sharma, Sunit Tandon, Karan Singh and Nishant
will anchor the programme.
In addition to the experts in DD's Delhi studio, several politicians
such as Narendra Modi, Shanker Sinh Vaghela, Kamal Nath, Keshubhai
Patel, Arun Jaitley and other top leaders are expected to participate
in the programme from DD Ahmedabad studio. The guest list also includes
members of parliament such as Balbir Punj, Dinanath Mishra, Sushma
Swaraj and V K Malhotra from the BJP; Amar Singh from Samajwadi
party, D. Raja from the Left party, V. Shivraj Patil from the Congress.
DD has roped in several prominent media personalities such as Sheshadri
Chari, Gujarat Samachar's Delhi bureau chief Inder Saheny,
The Tribune's bureau chief T.R. Ramachandra , Panchjanya's
editor Tarun Vijay, The Times of India's political editor
Manoj Joshi, The Hindu's bureau chief Harish Khare, Dainik
Bhaskar's editor Harish Gupta, The Hindustan Times' editor
Vir Sanghvi, The Pioneer's editor Chandan Mitra, India
Today's managing editor Swapan Das Gupta.
The programme will also feature senior journalists such as Dr Suryakant
Bali, Ved Pratap Vedic and Sandhya Jain in addition to political
analyst Mahesh Rangarajan and Dhiru Bhai Seth, an expert on Gujarat
matters.
