Sports has announced that from today it will commence telecast
of the Morrocco Cup 2002. The event will take place at The
Tangier Cricket Stadium in Morocco and will see South Africa,
Sri Lanka and Pakistan take part in the event scheduled
to conclude on 21 August.
An
official release informs that the event is being organised
by the Morocco's cricket federation and represents the first
time international cricket is being staged in North Africa.
Speaking on the initiative CEO Taj Television Chris McDonald
said: "Tangier is an excellent venue for cricket with the
warm climate and conditions just right for the game. The
time zone is also best suited for the Indian viewer with
all the matches starting at 3 pm. Tangier cricket stadium
is also the first neutral venue to have been granted test
as well as ODI status at the same time. This is because
the stadium offers modern cricketing facilities that are
at par with or even above international standards. The square,
outfield and playing areas all conform to the tough and
exacting standards of the ICC."
The schedule is as follows
12 August Pakistan vs South Africa
14 August Pakistan vs Sri Lanka
15 August South Africa vs Sri Lanka
17 August Pakistan vs Sri Lanka
18 August Pakistan vs South Africa
19 August South Africa vs Sri Lanka
21 August Final
