National
broadcaster Doordarshan today premiered a new serial Talaq
Kyun, a series based on the problems of divorce.
The
show, which aired at 1:30 pm, is the brainchild of writer,
director and producer Mittar Singh. The serial is based
on true life incidents and highlights dowry, economic imbalances,
ego problems as some of the issues that lead to divorce.
It provides an historical pespective to the problem by showcasing
some landmark cases that have come up since the adoption
of the Hindu Marriage Act in 1958.
