Spacetoon launches its first animation IP with Fafa & Juno

MUMBAI: Kids Animation India (KAI), the publishing and merchandising division of Spacetoon India, has rolled out its first intellectual property, Fafa & Juno.

KAI will initially market the cartoon characters through publishing, licensing and merchandising and also through event promotions. The merchandising products will comprise school bags, art sets, stationary, toys and home furnishing.

Says Spacetoon-South Asia MD and CEO Rajiv Sangari, "KAI will invest an estimated amount of Rs 40-50 million in the publishing, and licensing and merchandising process of Fafa & Juno till April FY10. We expect to generate revenues of approximately Rs 30-40 million in FY10."

In a bid to create touch points for its newly created properties, KAI is targeting about 150 retail outlets within the next 45 days and about 8000 mom and pop stores by the end of this year.

"We are also rolling out 31 publishing titles today based on our new IP properties and plan to unveil 70 titles more by 2009-end," avers Sangari.

"We will also be unveiling a television series based on Fafa & Juno by April 2010. The series is currently under the pre-production stage," Sanghari quips.
