MUMBAI: Digital technology firm Samsung has commenced production of its SlimFit TV in India. The 21 inch SlimFit television will be made at the company’s 1.5 million capacity CTV manufacturing facility at Noida.

With the addition of the 21 inch SlimFit CTV, Samsung will now offer its SlimFit television range in 21inch, 29 inch and 32 inch screen sizes. The product is around 100mm slimmer than a normal flat TV set.

Samsung says that it had pioneered the introduction of Slim TV sets in India by launching its 32 inch SlimFit model in August last year, followed by the launch of its 29 inch SlimFit TV. The product is equipped with Samsung’s patented DNIe technology and turbo sound.

Samsung is hoping that the 21 inch segment will be the volume driver in the SlimFit category and is expecting to sell over one lakh SlimFit TV sets in the country.

The product has virtual dolby surround that ensures 3D effects from two channel sound sources, while the built in turbo sound circuitry adds a surround dimension by boosting the bass sound.

The product's features include a multi-colour system digital noise reduction, a five band graphic equaliser, turbo sound, a child lock and a clock. Samsung says that it expects the SlimFit category contribution to grow to around 10 to12 per cent of the total flat TV market in India.
