MUMBAI:Multimedia semiconductor company SigmaTel Inc., has announced its first
TV audio design win with Proton Electrical Industrial Company, a designer, manufacturer
and marketer of high-quality digital TVs, LCD TVs, and HDTV products. The
new 32-inch TFT LCD Proton television will be showcased to customers attending
the Computex trade show in Taiwan in June and will be available to customers in
Taiwan, Japan and Australia. The SigmaTel SGTV5800 solution provides Proton
with bill of material (BOM) savings through its single-chip integration, connectivity
that simplifies design and time to market, and the ability to satisfy worldwide
audio standards with a single hardware platform, informs an official release.
It further allows Proton to use a single audio platform for its full
line of televisions. The SGTV5800 can be scaled to multiple TV sizes and applied
to multiple geographical markets that require different audio demodulation standards,
adds the release. SigmaTel chairman and CEO Ron Edgerton said, "We're
excited to be working with Proton as this represents a new market for SigmaTel
with significant growth potential. "TV listeners will soon hear the
same high-quality, 24-bit audio already proven with millions of SigmaTel audio
codec products." "I'm especially proud of our design team
that developed first-pass, functional silicon. It showcases our people and technology
base and ability to rapidly penetrate new markets with differentiated products,"
Edgerton added. In addition to the Proton TV, SigmaTel also plans to
demonstrate and display to customers attending Computex, more than 20 diverse
applications using its silicon solutions. SigmaTel will showcase multiple MP3
personal media players, Sony's VAIO Sound Reality PC home theater system, notebook
computers with HD Audio and built-in digital microphones, multi-function printers,
digital cameras and digital picture frames. |
