| Looking to help IPTV operators protect their on-demand
content from unwanted service theft and piracy, Entone Technologies
and Verimatrix, Inc. have announced that Entone's StreamLiner network
video recorder (NVR) is integrated with the Verimatrix Content Authority
System (VCAS). This collaborative effort will enable IP television
(IPTV) service providers a more efficient and enhanced content security
solution that can be quickly and easily deployed.
By integrating the VCAS software with Entone's StreamLiner video
streaming technology, Entone and Verimatrix offer a comprehensive
digital rights management (DRM) and video on demand (VOD) solution
that significantly streamlines the process for getting VOD assets
securely and reliably through the process from content creation,
processing, distribution and playout, states an official release.
Currently with most DRM systems, VOD content is distributed over
a core network and stored at the operator's site on a stand-alone
system called a "catcher." This content is manually copied
to another server where encryption technology is applied, and then
copied again to an on-site VOD server, the release adds.
