| SiNett Corporation, developer of silicon and software
for next-generation network infrastructures, has introduced two products
in its OneEdge Switch Processor family: the SN5024 Unified Access
(UA)/WLAN Switch and SN6004 WLAN Controller.
Built from the ground up to unify wireless and wired enterprise
network architectures, OneEdge's single-chip design provides high-performance
wireless and wired packet processing, robust security, advanced
mobility and sophisticated traffic management. OneEdge's purpose-built
silicon combines comprehensive features, significant performance
and cost advantages over existing solutions, and enables network
equipment manufacturers to quickly develop next generation Unified
Access switches, WLAN switches, and WLAN appliances/controllers.
Until now, OEMs have been required to use multiple, complex silicon
components to build networking equipment that fully supports integrated
wireless and wired networks. Current generation products have been
costly, have not offered compelling features or performance for
wireless processing, and have required a long time to develop. With
a single-chip architecture designed from the ground up with unified
networks in mind, SiNett's OneEdge provides several significant
benefits, including a dramatic increase in integrated wireless and
wired datapath processing performance - 8 Gbps worst case in full
duplex mode for all major functions - and a system bill of materials
(BOM) which is just one third to one quarter the cost of current
implementations.
In addition, the OneEdge flexible architecture supports emerging
wireless standards, such as CAPWAP, and a variety of WLAN architectures
- from wireless overlays to unified access switches, as well as
simple, thin access points to more intelligent ones. Furthermore,
advanced mobility, security and QoS features implemented in the
OneEdge switch processor are requirements for building a unified
access infrastructure that offers advanced WLAN services, such as
voice over WLAN (VoWLAN) and location tracking.
Highlights of the OneEdge Family of Products:
Like all members of the OneEdge Switch Processor family, the SN5024
UA/WLAN Switch and the SN6004 WLAN Controller share a common silicon
and software architecture platform. As a result, network OEMs can
leverage their design investment and cost effectively build a complete
product family covering a wide price/performance spectrum for WLAN
and unified access switching products.
