Pace Micro Technology which develops digital set-top box (STB) technology and Espial, a provider of STB software and IPTV (Internet protocol television) applications, have joined hands to deliver a full-featured set top box targeted at the hospitality industry.

The Pace IP420, embedded with the Espial Escape browser, will offer hotel viewers a full range of services such as pay-per-view, video-on-demand, interactive shopping and community or service information.

The solution is based on Pace's IP420 set-top box and incorporates the Espial Escape browser. The IP420 is part of Pace's Digital Broadband Media (DBM) range, which is already being used by telcos and broadband IP operators to launch advanced television and multimedia services over existing telecommunications networks.

The Espial Escape browser is built for a television environment enhancing user interaction with assessment for alternate navigation paradigms, automatic re-sizing of content, zooming, multidimensional remote control navigation and programmable link highlighting.
