| Raj Reddy, a computer engineer, in his effort to bring
computer technology to the poor, has invented a unique gadget termed
PCtvt: a combination of a personal computer, a TV and a telephone.
Reddy has started experimenting with his invention at Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy has been quoted in a BBC report as saying that his invention
would not only allow the poor people to watch TV but even the literate
to surf the internet through the machine.
Reddy believes that people will rent the device for their television
and has plans to lease PCtvts for about 10 dollars a month.
