News Corp's NDS has signed a deal with Euro I AG the interactive and digital TV service provider based in Bremen, Germany.

As per the agreement Euro I AG has selected NDS’ MediaHighway Advanced interactive TV platform which combines a DVB-MHP-certified middleware with PVR capabilities, an HTML engine and broadband return channel.

The MediaHighway interactive TV platform
links up entertainment to content value as it combines its original features to the benefits and advantages of PVR technology. More than strategic, the choice of DVB-MHP will boost up the market and help German operators and content providers benefit from new business opportunities.

Enabling the use of many interactive services, MediaHighway Advanced with PVR
features a electronic programme guide, personal TV services such as the Personal Video Recorder (PVR) and time-shifting functionality. This allows the subscribers to enjoy a range of high-quality functions such as slow motion or multi-speed fast forward.

The MediaHighway Advanced with PVR solution allows subscribers to record
and store programmes on the hard-disc drive. They can watch a programme at any time and
create their own on-demand prime time.

Also featured is the dual-tuner function. This allows subscribers to record a programme while
watching another channel and the use of the broadband return channel to stream revenue from T-commerce services. Deployed by Euro I AG, the hard-disc drive-equipped set-top boxes will include two dual tuners. This improves the subscriber’s freedom of choice and viewing
entertainment, allowing PVR features on digital TV channels.
