Pinnacle Systems has announced that British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) has deployed its
DekoCast character generators at its main UK studio facility in London.

The solution will be used to produce content for the new international feed of Sky News. Deployed ahead of the service's launch later this year, the solution complements 12 FXDeko II systems and a DekoCast Authoring Station that are being used across the Sky News and Sky Sports channels.

The new service will broadcast internationally providing a single feed global news service by utilising content from Sky News' existing operations. In creating this new service BSkyB is aiming to build on the continued success in
the UK and Ireland of Sky News, which earlier this year was named the RTS News Channel of the Year for the third successive year.

Deko solutions delivee advanced on-air graphics applications. An experienced user of Pinnacle's flagship FXDeko II system, BSkyB uses the solution to produce the majority of its character graphics content for all Sky News broadcasts. It has now opted for the DekoCast character generators specifically to provide breaking-news content to be
viewed between scheduled programmes on Sky News' international feed.

Pinnacle issued a release stating that an automated solution like DekoCast allows BSkyB to add programme fill content seamlessly. This leaves the local broadcast partners free to supplement localised advertising. The comprehensive feature set, which includes multi channel DVE and an advanced keying engine means that the solution can maintain continuity with the BSkyB channel
branding.

Pinnacle Systems provides broadcasters and consumers with digital media creation, storage, and play-back solutions for use at home, work and on air.
