Hearst-Argyle to power up with Harris' digital transmitters

Hearst-Argyle Television has chosen Harris Corporation's broadcast Communications Division to upgrade the digital transmission facilities at 26 of its television stations in the US.

Harris will provide Sigma CD High Power DTV Transmitters to 15 of the Hearst-Argyle stations. In addition it will supply two DiamondCD UHF DTV Transmitters and two PlatinumCD VHF DTV Transmitters to four other stations as well as Apex Digital Exciters and FlexiCoder upgrades for six stations.

Hearst Aregyle issued a release stating that high definition broadcast television continued to gain momentum and audience share in the US. Harris has been a strategic vendor to Hearst-Argyle from its very first DTV installation in November 1999. Heasrt is in the process of ompleting the remaining steps for a full power build out.
